Rhythm game with custom music — play your own songs

How it works

1. Open the editor and drop in an audio file (MP3, WAV, OGG, FLAC or M4A).
2. The song is analysed in your browser. BeatCombo detects the tempo and the onsets (drum hits, melody notes, hi-hats) and turns them into notes. Nothing is uploaded while this happens.
3. You get three difficulties — Easy, Normal and Hard — and can play any of them immediately.
4. Publish it if you want. Published charts join the public library with their own page and leaderboard, so friends can play your song too.
5. Or take it to osu!. One click exports the song and all three difficulties as an osu!mania 7K beatmap set (.osz).

Custom songs without the usual hassle

Games that support custom music usually make you chart the song by hand, install a separate editor, or hunt for a fan-made beatmap that may not exist. Here the chart is generated automatically, so a song you found five minutes ago is playable five minutes later. It works on PC, Mac and Chromebook — anything with a keyboard and a modern browser.

What the charts feel like

Difficulty is built the way classic O2Jam charts were: Easy follows the main melody, Normal adds the rhythm section on strong beats, and Hard layers in chords, brackets and long notes. The result plays like a hand-made chart rather than a random note shower. You play with seven keys: S D F Space J K L.

Is it free?

Yes. Playing and generating charts are free, with no download and no sign-up needed to play.

Can I use songs from my phone?

Play currently needs a physical keyboard, so use a computer. Touch controls are on the roadmap.

Which files work?

Any audio format your browser can decode — MP3, WAV, OGG, FLAC and M4A all work. Shorter tracks (2–5 minutes) give the best experience.

Do I have to publish my song?

No. You can generate and play privately. Only publish music you have the right to share.
