Why classical piano works so well

Piano music is dense with clear note attacks, which is exactly what a rhythm chart needs. Fast runs become streams across the lanes, chords become multi-key hits, and sustained notes become long notes you hold. A slow nocturne makes a relaxed Easy chart; a Chopin étude on Hard is a real test.

Not piano tiles

Mobile "piano tiles" games give you four columns and a tap. Here you play with seven keys (S D F Space J K L) on a keyboard, and every note lines up with a real note in the recording, so you are effectively playing along with the performance.

Public-domain music

The composers here died long ago and their compositions are in the public domain; the recordings in the library are public-domain or openly licensed performances, and each chart page lists its source and licence where available.

Questions

Do I need a real piano or MIDI keyboard?

No — a normal computer keyboard is all you need.

Can I add a piece that is missing?

Yes. If you have a recording you are allowed to share, drop it into the editor and it will be charted automatically.
